Article Marketing is Free and Easy

Monday, April 28th, 2008

By John Bradley Jackson Article marketing is one of the best ways to optimize your website, create new sales leads, and to garner new publicity. The really good news is that it is free and easy (OK, it does take some time and a few brain cells). If you are not familiar with article marketing, it is the process of writing short (250-500 word) feature articles for the web that are posted on internet magazines, commonly called e-zines. You may recall doing a search when you entered in some key words on a subject of interest and found these informative articles written by subject matter experts. At the end of the article was a byline with the authors name and an URL for you to click on for more information. There are many benefits to on-line article marketing. Articles are sticky; once an article is accepted on an e-zine website, it can stay listed for months or years. When your articles are posted on numerous e-zine websites, the search engine spiders pick this up; this sends your website ranking sky high the organic way (i.e. no S.E.O. fees!). By writing the article you are positioned as a subject matter expert, which creates sales leads coming to you instead of you chasing them. The articles themselves tend to be all about or how to summaries about a specific topic; think niche and be specific. Article readers are looking for help with a problem or they want to learn more about a subject. Remember, the article is not an advertisement, although the author gets credit. For example, my friend Brad Barrett owns a vertical file storage business called Easi File (www.easyfileusa.com). Easi File manufacturers and sells file cabinets and accessories for the storage of large documents such as engineering and architectural plans, artwork, and other documents that are typically filed flat. His unique solution is a vertical filing system that reduces the cabinet footprint by 80%. This is a very cool niche business with a very unique customer. One the ways that Brad finds his customers is through article marketing. Brad has positioned himself as a web expert on the subject of the storage of large documents; by doing article marketing, Brad has customers hitting his site for more information. Articles can be submitted directly to e-zines that cover your topic, or you can submit to article submission websites that will route them for you. The submission websites have rules of engagement for the articles such word length, topic, and style, but they can be a very efficient way to distribute your article. Give article marketing a try. It is a great way to get your message out to you target market. John Bradley Jackson brings street-savvy sales and marketing experience from Silicon Valley and Wall Street. The Student Loan

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Williams]John Williams The rising costs of college tuition have made it almost a necessity to apply for a student loan today. Students not only have tuition costs, but the cost of books, meals, gas, cell phones, recreation, etc. The variety of student loans enables students to take care of their varying college expenses. A student loan however, is a loan that must be repaid under specified circumstances. Each of the following are student loans with differing conditions and time frames for repayment: A Direct Student Loan is a loan with a schedule of repayment six to nine months after the student has completed school. The Direct Student Loan is distributed through the school the student is attending, which enables the interest rates to be much lower than a Guaranteed Student Loan. Guaranteed Student Loans, also known as Stafford Loans have a low interest rate. A student can apply for a subsidized or unsubsidized student loan. A subsidized loan means the government pays the interest for you while you are in school. The subsidized student loan is based on the students financial need. An unsubsidized student loan means you will be charged interest while you are attending school. The principal must start being paid after you have finished school. Both types of student loans need to start repayment six months after the student has finished college. Federal Parent Loans or PLUS loans as they are known is a student loan not contingent on your income, but lenders do consider personal credit history. Parents or guardians who have a dependent child enrolled in college at least part-time are eligible for the PLUS loan. The interest rate is 9% or less. Virtually any school or program will allow you to utilize the Direct Student loan, Guaranteed Student loan or PLUS loan. It is very important to thoroughly research all available options for funding long-term education. Your future is tied to your funding, which is your student loan. John Williams is the student loan blogger at http://studentloan.blogspot.com He reviews student loans and interprets often complicated financial data into simple to understand language. Possible Cure for Messy Toothpaste Disease

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

By D. Perse Is a messy toothpaste tube driving you crazy? Let me tell you - youre not the only one. Im quite sure that toothpaste has been a popular reason for fights between spouses or family members since its appearance in our daily routine which (at least for some people) happened a long time ago Toothpaste History 3000 to 5000 years B.C. the Egyptians were already making a dental powder/crme out of powdered ashes of oxen hooves, myrrh, burned egg shells, pumice and water. This powder or paste was probably applied onto the teeth by fingers since the toothstick (predecessor ot the toothbrush) had not been invented yet. Persians chose different ingredients in about 1000 B.C. Burnt shells of snails and oysters with gypsum were their magic formula. Romans improved the recipes by adding (among others) some flavoring agents, which also counteracted bad breath. Half a millennia later, around 500 B.C., we find records of toothpaste use in China and India as well. Modern toothpastes appear in 1800 A.D., developed by doctors, dentists and chemists in Britain. They contained some very abrasive substances (brick dust, crushed china, earthenware, cuttlefish) and even sugar. The poor still rubbed their teeth using fingers and for the rich toothbrushes were available. Mass production started in 1873 (by Colgate). Toothpaste was packed in a jar and for the first time in history it smelled good. U.S. Army included the brushing of teeth in their standard hygiene procedures in 1941. Toothpaste Today Nowadays, toothpastes come in a variety of colors, flavors, aromas, with fluoride or without it, with synthetic or natural ingredients, packed in plastic or tin tubes, dispensers etc. Theres one thing that hasnt changed, however. Some people simply dont mind spreading the toothpaste not only onto the toothbrush but all over the dispenser, the sink and probably other places also. Uppermost, they probably forget to put the cap back on the tube after use These sorts of (bad) habits can become a serious problem when such person shares the same bathroom with another kind of person who prefers toothpaste in a tube (always with the cap on when not in use) and on the toothbrush only. Until today, I havent heard of any cure that would heal the “messy toothpaste disease”. But Ive had a chance to learn about an interesting and at the same time amusing method a young lady just started using in her bathroom. Well call it “Doro-Method”. It involves putting up conspicuous post-it stickers with instructions around the area in question. By “conspicuous” I mean the size, the color and the wording you really cant miss or disregard easily. And shes told me so herself - its been working so far Theres no guarantee that the “Doro-Method” will work for you. In that particular house nobody ever comments on warnings or directions but they are being followed by every member of the household without exception. http://www.greetingcardservice.citymaker.com/page/page/3846992.htm D. Marketing Myth Number 1: Marketing is Just Another Word for Advertising

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

By Mary Eule This is perhaps the most common marketing myth and must be debunked right away if you have any hope of accomplishing your business goals. A belief in this myth necessitates a view of marketing as a tactical function rather than the series of cross-functional processes, approaches and activities that it really is. Yes, advertising (marketing communications) is an essential component of your overall marketing plan, but it is not THE plan and ideally should account for only 1-2% of your entire marketing efforts. If you devote all of your attention and efforts on advertising activities (e.g. ad copy, sales channels, websites, media, etc.) youre putting the cart before the horse and are missing critical issues that may be having a negative impact on your business. Advertising should never be substituted for the marketing process as a whole. No amount of advertising is going to make up for shoddy workmanship; rude employees or an unpleasant customer experience. Its like building a house of cards it may hold up for a little while, but it most certainly will come tumbling down. Youve heard of the domino effect, yes? If all of the dominos are set up correctly then one push and they will all fall into place achieving the expected result. It all begins with that first domino it sets up the chain reaction for all the rest. Moreover, if any of the others are out of place the ones after that will not drop. This common, but vivid analogy clearly demonstrates how one element can significantly alter results. The marketing function can be broken down into two distinct parts Strategies and Tactics. Strategic marketing defines who you are It spells out how you differ from your competitors so that your prospects and customers can make wise choices. Additionally, it serves as the working foundation for your entire company. It is the content of your marketing message: what you say, how you say it, and who you say it to. Tactical marketing (Advertising, Promotions, Sales Materials, etc.) involves the communication of your strategic plan. In other words, it is the vehicle(s) for delivering your message. Strategies and tactics will be discussed in much greater detail in Chapters Three through Seven. Bottom line: You cannot advertise your way to success. If you choose to tell the public how great you are make yourself great first. The quickest way to kill a bad product, or business, is to advertise it. Classic Symptoms of a Myth #1 Believer They Ignore essential research, analysis, and planning Act like a “show horse” instead of a “plow horse” Think/Say things like, “advertising works” or “you can make a fortune on the Internet” Dont believe in giving anything away for free Mary Eule specializes in helping small and medium-sized businesses get and keep profitable customers. The Use Of Natural Herbs

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

By Michelle Bery In a world of increased awareness of natural health achieving optimum fitness and vitality through a focus on whole foods, organic ingredients, and a natural lifestyle more and more attention has turned to the use of natural herbs in every day life. But while they may be once again gaining popularity, the use of natural herbs dates back to prehistoric times in the use of everything from food to medicine. A variety of cultures along the way have identified the properties of specific herbs and classified them accordingly. Throughout history more and more natural herbs have been identified as having enormous medicinal benefits and continue to be used today in much the same fashion. Chili peppers have been shown to reduce pain; nutmeg aids digestion; ginger helps combat nausea and vomiting the list goes on and on. Whether used to sustain health and vigor or to remedy a host of maladies, natural herbs can be a healthy alternative to many over-the-counter medications; although they should never replace prescription medication for a chronic condition without the supervision of a medical professional. Of course natural herbs also lend themselves to inclusion in a variety of different cuisines. Depending on the culture, specific natural herbs are used to enhance flavor and augment meals. Ginger, basil, and a host of others add tremendous flavor and health to a variety of meals. The added benefit to using natural herbs in cooking is increased flavor without the use of fats. Cooking with natural herbs can be an extremely healthy way to prepare food. Another benefit to using natural herbs whether in food or for medicinal purposes is the convenience of finding anything you need in a variety of locations. Natural herbs can be found everywhere from the grocery store to local farmers markets to health food stores. Or, if you are so inclined, you can grow your own natural herb garden right in your backyard. Nothing beats the convenience of having natural herbs right at your fingertips. No matter how you use natural herbs, you will find the benefits to be increased health, overall enjoyment of food, and a renewed focus on a natural lifestyle. Let the Market Speak!

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

By John Vinturella The first and most logical step in whether or where to start a business is to conduct a market analysis. For a retail business, a few general locations should be chosen for detailed analysis to identify where the opportunity is greatest. A market analysis is a study of the market area and of probable future patterns. It should include the current state of the market, and the nature and extent of competition. The purpose of the analysis is to make it possible to develop more accurate, that is, more fact-based sales forecasts. The method is to identify the pattern or trend of sales over the past and to use this information to project or estimate sales for the period ahead. Another important issue is how much it costs in selling effort to produce a given volume of sales. It involves two types of costs: advertising costs, and salaries and wages paid for selling. If the business requires sales-people in the field, as a manufacturer might, information on reimbursable travel expenses should be included. A study of the competition should be included in any market analysis. The competition may be local and well defined, or quite generalized, depending on the nature of the business and of the market. Trade associations and other data-gathering agencies, both governmental and non-governmental, are sometimes helpful in this area. A good deal of the information about competition, such as estimated sales, pricing policies, advertising and promotional costs , services offered, performance of sales personnel, must come from direct investigation, business by business. Of interest also are whether there are businesses entering and leaving the competition recently, and changes in the competitive structure through product mix or services offered. If there is a lot of flux in the market, we need to look into the causes, and whether they are favorable to our entry. When evaluating a location, be sure to investigate whether there any plans for proposed changes that may have an adverse effect on the future of the business. Urban revitalization programs, changes in highways and streets, flood-control programs, changes in zoning ordinances, could all severely impact what looks today like a favorable location. The number of people within the market area and the amount of disposable income they have are important market factors. For many kinds of businesses, the total population is less important than certain segments of the population. A business selling hearing aids, for example, will be interested only in persons who have hearing difficulties, which would generally imply an older demographic. General population figures are obtained from Federal, State, and local government sources. The Federal census gives not only total population figures but also breakdowns that are useful in many business situations. For most of the larger cities, census figures are further classified by sections within the city, called census tracts, on the basis of certain population and economic characteristics. Business population figures may be available from numerous sources. The Yellow Pages of the telephone directory and the city directory are local sources that are immediately available. Chambers of commerce, trade associations, and State and Federal government agencies can often be helpful. Many trade associations report the results of research on consumer expenditures. Other sources of data on income include planning commission offices, employment offices, and utility companies. Many newspapers research and report on building permits and demographic trends, especially in newly developed areas. A much broader yet vital part of the market analysis has to do with what might be called the general state of the market, that is, overall economic conditions of the market area and of the country. These may be widespread movements such as national cycles of prosperity and less favorable times, or they may be purely local conditions. Perhaps the prospective entrepreneur favors a particular area, near home for example, and is merely looking for a specific location. It can still be very useful to investigate a couple of other areas, in case the opportunity in the favored area is particularly less than in other neighborhoods. The possibility must always be recognized that the nature and /or direction of the industry, or the competitive situation may prove unfavorable in all the areas investigated. Options then are to wait for conditions to become more favorable, or to “cast a wider net” geographically or in terms of business niche chosen. In any case, finding out at the analysis stage makes it much easier to optimize the opportunity chosen. John B. Vinturella, Ph.D. has almost 40 years experience as a management and strategic consultant, entrepreneur, author, and college professor. The Most Romantic Wedding Traditions from Around the World: France, Italy, & Spain

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

By Chris Simeral If youd like to add a slice of your heritage to your wedding ceremony, youre not alone. Millions of couples are embracing their ancestry and choosing to incorporate some of the best traditions from around the world in their ceremonies here at home. Here are some of the most interesting wedding traditions you might find if you attended a wedding in France, Italy or Spain. If you or your family are from one of these countries, why not try adding some phrases from your ancestors native tongue in your wedding vows for a truly memorable touch! France On the day of the wedding, it is customary for the French groom to meet the bride at her home and accompany her to the church. He then is walked down the aisle by his mother during the ceremony. After the ceremony, the couple walks on laurel leaves that have been strewn on the ground by well wishers. Fragrant flowers are also carried by thebride in the belief that the scent will repel evil spirits. Traditionally, guests to the wedding will bring small cakes and pile them on a table as they enter the church. The bride and groom kiss over the cakes to symbolize a fruitful life. On the wedding night, these same guests will stand outside banging on pots and pans until the groom invites them in for drinks. Italy The bride in an Italian wedding wears a veil over her face in order to hide it from evil spirits until the ceremony is over. Its considered good luck for the groom to tear it at the conclusion of the ceremony. Evil spirits are also warded off by the groom carrying a piece of iron in his pocket. At the beginning of the wedding reception, the best man serves sweet liquor or strong drinks to the wedding guests, who then toast the wedding couple with the words cent’anni, which means for a hundred years. There may be as many as 14 different entrees at an Italian wedding dinner, each with its own wine selection. To help defray the costs of the lavish ceremony and to assist in the couples new lives together, the bride often carries a satin bag. Guests place envelopes of money in the bag, and male guests may buy dances with the bride by contributing to this fund. Spain Before the wedding ceremony in Spain, the groom will present the bride with 13 coins in a little bag, which she then carries to the ceremony. These coins represent his commitment to her. At the ceremony, she will wear orange blossoms in her hair to signify virginity and purity. The church is also often decorated with orange blossoms. In stark contrast to most wedding traditions, in Spain it is customary for the bride to wear a black silk dress at her wedding. Her veil is also black, and intricately embroidered. The groom wears an embroidered shirt made for him by his bride-to-be. At the reception after the ceremony, guests traditionally present the newlyweds a gift for their household. There is also a traditional dance, called the sequidillas manchegas, which the guests enjoy. Monday, April 14th, 2008

By Roman Zazulak For many people that are single, finding a quality person can be difficult. With long hours at work and lots of other responsibilities it can be hard for singles to go out each night or on the weekend in search of finding someone that they are compatible with. One great way to meet quality singles at your convenience is with online dating services. While online dating was once viewed as a geeky way to meet another person, the times have definitely changed. Today, millions of people each month contact one another with the help of online dating services to meet new friends and start new relationships. If you havent already made the leap, here are some reasons why you should try online dating services. One good reason to try online dating services to meet a quality person is because of your work schedule. For people that work long hours, usually they have two choices find someone at work to socialize with or easily meet someone at your convenience via online dating sites. Online dating sites are extremely convenient, are not as time consuming as going out to a social event and gives you an opportunity to meet a wide variety of people fitting almost any criteria. Whether you have 2 hours per week or 20 hours per week of free time, you can easily use online dating services to find someone interesting. For people that are tired of the loud, smoky clubs, late nights out and the meat markets, online dating services are an extremely comfortable and practical way to find people that might be compatible with you. For instance, most online dating services can help you find a person that fits specific criteria, whether it is location, age, profession, education, religion, etc. You can easily focus on the people that are interesting to you and which you will hopefully be compatible with. While you are meeting strangers online, you can chat and get to know each other before you decide to date. You have an extreme amount of control over your own dating process. Online dating services are also great for people that consider themselves extremely social. If you are outgoing and love to meet new and interesting people, online dating services are an excellent resource to find new friends and acquaintances in a short amount of time, with very little effort. Just as there are many sites dedicated to finding a great match for a long term relationship, there are also online dating services that focus on connecting people that enjoy dating and meeting lots of people. My Fairy Tale Is Gone

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

By Candace Doyle Dear Candace, My girlfriend and I recently split up. I called her a few days ago and she said that it was over and that she did not want to discuss it with me anymore, that I had gotten on her nerves to the point where she didn’t see any point in communicating with me, ever. I told her I was completely devastated and depressed. She said, I know, but that happens to people everyday and you need to act like an adult for once. I just don’t understand what happened. I am so hurt and confused and lonely. I bought her flowers almost every week we dated and treated her like a princess. I cry and pray every day for her to return. How can I get my fairy tale back? ~ Jeff Greetings and blessings to you, precious one. What is attractive about a person is their character, their strengths, their goals, their beliefs. In some cases, it may be external things, and yet, for the most part, it is who they are and all of the richness they bring into the world and share with another. That is what you brought to this relationship in the first place. Who you became over time was a person who is in love with this other person, rather than a man of character, virtue, ideas, and goals. You lost who you were in the process of this relationship, and you lost what made you desirable to her in the first place. You have not done anything wrong or bad. This happens naturally for people in relationships when they are not strong and certain about who they are and about their character and strengths. Those become lost in the course of a relationship. For you, it would be best to allow your fairy tale to read onto the next page where it says, And they lived happily ever after. The End. You close the book and say, That was a nice story. God bless those characters. And you move on. Give thanks in your heart for having known this person and for having learned that in the course of falling deeply and wonderfully in love, you lose yourself. Then go about your life, without this person, rediscovering your strengths, your character, your virtues and goals. Focus on these and strengthen these. They are already instilled within you in a very deep way. Make contact with those things on the deepest level that you can, so that you bring them into the world and into your relationships, rather than bringing your neediness, your dependence, or your suffering, which came as a result of losing yourself in this relationship. Rediscover within you all of these things. You are the person that you want to get to know. When you feel strong and confident in who you are, bring that into the world and allow another relationship to unfold in your life, being mindful not to lose yourself in the process. It is not to be self-centered when you step into a relationship, but to continue to make yourself, your relationship with God, your family, your work, your goals, and your priorities as important as they truly are. You have everything within you that you need to accomplish this. It is only for you to make the decision and take the time to do this. Allow yourself to be motivated to maintain who you are and to allow your partner to maintain who they are so that the relationship becomes the blessing of the gifts that you each bring, knowing that you are stronger as a couple than the sum of your parts. Blessings to you on this happy venture. Amen. DavidPaul and Candace Doyles mission is to extend Peace and Love in the world by supporting others in hearing the Voice for Peace and Love within them.
